The fifth and sixth of the patron saint festivals of the 17 Contrade di Siena are for the Civetta and Tartuca - che bello! Their giro (procession through the city) will take place today, so listen out for the drums of the tamburini, and enjoy the fluttering of the dance of the alfieri’s flags. New members to the Contrada will be officially welcomed through the lay rite of baptism, and outdoor dinners will be had all week (you are welcome to attend!).
